Cardiac muscle

This image illustrates a longitudinal-section of cardiac muscle, clearly demonstrating the branching nature of cardiac muscle fibers.  Intercalated disks.are unstained (pale).  Muscle striations should be visible at this magnification, but in this digital image they are obscured by pixellation.
