Pyloric and Brunner's Glands

Notes

This slides shows the transition between the stomach (on the right) and the small intestine (on the left).  

Note how mucosal glands (on right) give way to submucosal glands (on left), and how a fairly "solid" mucosa (with pits and glands, on right) gives way to a velvety mucosa (with villi, on left) .  Also note the pronounced thickening of the muscularis externa at this location, forming the pyloric sphincter.
