The seminal vesicle is a single, tubular outpouching of the vas deferens. Because this tube is coiled, a sectioned specimen typically shows several similar profiles (as above). The thick wall is muscular, and the mucosa is highly folded for greatly increased secretory surface area. Human seminal vesicle normally displays a much more elaborately folded mucosa than the specimen illustrated here (from our reference set).
