Notes
The prostate consists of irregular glands embedded in an extensive fibromuscular stroma. In this specimen, the smooth muscle fibers have stained more intensely than the interwoven collagen. Secretory epithelial cells appear cuboidal rather than columnar in this image (columnar is the more usual appearance).
