Ciliary ganglion

Peripheral ganglia can be readily recognized by the distinctive appearance of nerve cell bodies. This example is the parasympathetic ciliary ganglion, adjacent to the optic nerve, serving the eye. Click on the thumbnail at right for higher magnification.
