Todd Baxter, M.D., ’90, Pediatrics
Dr. Baxter is a pediatrician at Northside Pediatrics Association in Indiana. He attended SIU with an interest in going into primary care and relocated to southeastern Indiana after completing his pediatric residency at Riley Hospital for Children. He has been serving the Spanish-speaking community for about the last 13 years as the main Spanish-speaking primary doctor in the area. He also has served on nine short-term medical mission outreaches to the Dominican Republic and Mexico since he was in college, with the last six having specific medical ministry. He is married and has two college-age sons. His wife, a Spanish teacher, has helped support his language development. He has also been a runner for the last 8 years, with his training moving towards a goal of completing a marathon in each of the 50 states. To date, he has completed 36 marathons in 22 states. He recently tried to add some secondary benefit to his running by including fund-raising for cancer research to some of his races. Since January 2009, he has run three marathons for either the Team in Training/Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the Susan G Komen Foundation, raising more than $10,000.
