Patrick Zimmermann, M.D., ’78, Family Medicine


Dr. Zimmermann is a family physician in Collinsville, Ill. He has been on the medical staff at Anderson Hospital for 29 years. He is chairman of the Department of Family Practice / Medicine. He coordinated their monthly CME meetings, has been very active with the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians and coordinated the IAFP Medicine for Today CME meetings. He has been a member of the hospital staff executive committee for many years and has served as the treasurer secretary and president of the medical staff, served on the Board of Directors of Anderson Hospital and on many committees for quality in the hospital and has been chairman of the Utilization Review committee. He mentors medical students and partners with fellow alum Mettisa McLeod M.D. '02.

Dr. Zimmerman has been Chairman of Family Medicine Dept. twice, Treasurer, Vice-President & President of the Medical Staff, a member of the Executive Committee for many years and has been a member of many other committees. He has been a member of the Anderson Board of Trustees for 12 years. He is a clinical teaching faculty member in family medicine at both SIU and St. Louis University.

When he’s not working, Dr. Zimmerman coaches YMCA soccer for boys and softball for adults. He serves on the Board of SMASH, a PAC for physicians in Illinois. He served as chairman of his church’s Board of Trustees for four years. He currently is a lay leader at the church.
