Implementation of the Faculty Achievement Award in Research program
To achieve the goals of Southern @ 150, the School of Medicine must substantially expand its research productivity. Growth in non-state revenue can support the hiring and retention of additional qualified research faculty, as well as space, equipment, and protected time for research for new and current faculty.
To promote achievement of the goals of Southern @ 150 and to address these related issues, SIUSOM has developed the Faculty Achievement Award in Research (FAAR) program.

Excellence through Commitment Awards Program Outstanding Scholar Award
Advancing the science of medicine is a critical and internationally recognized feature of American medical schools. The Outstanding Scholar Award of the SIU School of Medicine is awarded to individuals who exemplify scholarship in biomedical research and are recognized by other scholars in their field as having made outstanding contributions to their discipline.
