    Daotai Nie, PhD, professor of MMICB and member of the Simmons Cancer Institute at SIU, has been awarded a grant from the US Department of Defense – US Army Medical Research to study the high recurrence of lung cancer after chemotherapy. Due to exposure to explosive dusts and smoke, members of the military are especially vulnerable to lung cancer.

SIUSM Export Control Procedures Export Control

The office of the associate dean for research and faculty affairs coordinates SIU’s involvement with sponsored programs and establishes and maintains contact with funding agencies, providing them with information about the School’s research needs, interest and capabilities. The office also promotes faculty development and faculty interest in research and coordinates the three doctoral programs in Molecular Biology/Microbiology and Biochemistry; Pharmacology; and Physiology.
