Craig Whitworth is the Supervisor of the lab.
Tom Handy is a digital imaging specialist available to assist users.

Research Interests: The Research Imaging Facility is a shared instrumentation unit that is available not only to SIU employees but state agencies as well. For a reasonable fee the RIF staff provides expertise, consultation, service and training in the following areas:
Techniques and Methodologies: Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), including specimen preparation, tissue sectioning, and examination.

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), including tissue preparation, critical point drying, sputter coating, mounting tissue samples, and specimen examination.

Darkroom Work, including film processing and printing.
Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy, including viewing and imaging samples for data analysis

Image/Morphometric Analysis, including digital image acquisition from slides, films, gels, and tissue samples, and morphometric measurements of areas, perimeters, lengths, ratios, optical densities, grain counts, stereology, gel analysis, etc.

Laser Capture Microdissection, including the capture specific cell samples from slides for downstream assays.
