Springfield Committee for Research
Involving Human Subjects

Southern Illinois University School of Medicine (SIUSOM) relies on WIRB-Copernicus Group (WCG) Academy/Compliance Wire to host Human Subject Protections and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training. If you are new to WCG Academy training, contact Gary Fifer at 545-7823 or email gfifer@siumed.edu to request WCG account access.

Users new to Human Subject Protections training will be required to complete HIPAA training through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI). The HIPAA curriculum through CITI is in addition to the WCG curriculum. Successful completion of both, HIPAA and Human Subject Protections training is required before research personnel can engage in research activities involving human subjects.

Please note: Once training is completed, it is valid for three years. To refresh Human Subject Protections training, users will be required to retake their assigned WCG modules. HIPAA training will not require refreshing.
