Joseph L. Cheatwood
Assistant Professor
Ph.D., University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine,
2004
Neuroanatomy, Behavioral Neuroscience
- Research Objectives
Dr. Cheatwood's research is primarily aimed at developing a better
understanding of neuroanatomical changes underlying spontaneous
and induced recovery of sensory, cognitive, and motor functions
after central nervous system injury (i.e. stroke). Further,
the role of non-myelin-associated pools of the growth inhibitory
protein Nogo-A in limiting post-stroke neuroanatomical plasticity
is a major focus of Dr. Cheatwood's research, as are other growth
inhibitory molecules.
