The Grants Management Office of the SimmonsCooper Cancer Institute at SIU is available to assist faculty with cancer-centered grant applications. Services include search for appropriate grant mechanisms, checklist of non-technical guidelines, form completion, budget computation, continuing review and final proofreading. A categorized list of selected, external funding sources may be accessed from the links at the bottom of this page. In addition, we keep an inventory of biographical sketches on SIU School of Medicine faculty in a variety of formats to make updates quick and easy. Internal funding sources

American Cancer Society Institutional Research Grant
Three awards are available this year for the ACS Institutional Research Grant (IRG). The purpose of the IRG is to support the initiation of promising new projects by junior faculty members (within six years of their first independent appointment). Principal investigators of an active national grant are not eligible. Both basic and clinical research projects relevant to cancer will be supported. The amount of the maximum individual allocation is $20,000 for one year only. Excellence in Academic Medicine
SIU School of Medicine Springfield faculty are invited annually to submit a grant application to request EAM support. Deadline for submission is the 2nd Friday in August. Awards are generally in the range of $40,000 to $50,000, and projects must be completed in one year. For more details, see http://www.siumed.edu/adraf/eam.html

Central Research Committee
SIU School of Medicine faculty on both the Springfield and Carbondale campuses are eligible to submit a CRC application. The deadline for unestablished investigators is February 1st and the deadline for established investigators is April 1st. Awards are limited to $15,000 annually and projects may be completed in either one or two years. For more details, see http://www.siumed.edu/adraf/cntrlrsc.html
