Hematology and Oncology
SCI Hematology/Oncology is dedicated to supporting patients with blood and cancer related diagnoses. SCI Hematology/Oncology provides multidisciplinary care utilizing a “team approach” that is particularly important for those patients whose cancer care involves other specialists. Treatment plans are formulated by hematologists/oncologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, counselors, and chemotherapy certified medical staff, and treatment plans are individualized for each patient. A multidisciplinary team approach provides a higher level of quality care for both patients and their families.
SCI Hematology/Oncology is also dedicated to improving care for its patients by encouraging participation in clinical trials and basic science research. By enrolling patients in appropriate clinical studies, we strive to contribute to local, state, national and international efforts to find better ways to prevent, screen, diagnose and treat various hematologic and oncologic conditions. Providing SCI Basic Science researchers with blood and tissue samples also enables them to discover new things about cancer biology that will further lead to better detection, treatment and prevention.
