Research Symposium held at SimmonsCooper Cancer Institute
SimmonsCooper Cancer Institute recently hosted a research symposium on October 17th, “Prevention, Research, Treatment, Cure” that featured guest speakers from University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston; Medical University of South Carolina, Hollings Cancer Center in Charleston; University of Nebraska, Eppley Cancer Center in Omaha; and University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center in Ann Arbor.
Speakers included Sue-Hwa Lin, PhD University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston; Michael J. Wargovich, PhD, Medical University of South Carolina, Hollings Cancer Center in Charleston; Varsha Gandhi, PhD, University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston; Vimla Band, PhD, University of Nebraska, Eppley Cancer Center in Omaha; and Hasan Korkaya, DVM, PhD, University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center in Ann Arbor.
The day-long conference, welcomed by K. Thomas Robbins, MD, Director of SCCI, was chaired by Subhas Chakrabarty, PhD. Organizing committee members were Yin-Yuan Mo, PhD, Sophia Ran, PhD, Randolph Elble, PhD, Deliang Cao, PhD, Daiotai Nie, PhD and Theresa Casson.
Researchers at SCCI at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield and SIU SOM Carbondale also spoke at the annual symposium: Farid Kadyrov, PhD Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at SIU-SOM Carbondale; Yin-Yuan Mo, PhD, SCCI and Department of Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Cell Biology, Springfield; Dale B.
