Biennial Southern Illinois Neuroscience Retreat

The Southern Illinois Neuroscience Retreat is a biennial event. Everyone from students to established researchers are encouraged to present their latest work, whether data driven or theoretical.  Topics range from studies using molecular biological techniques in in vitro systems to studies of human behavior.  Presenting options usually include very short (5 minutes, usually 1-2 slides) Data Blitz talks or longer (15-20 minute) talks.  In addition, posters are available for viewing.

Our most recent Retreat was held September 10-11, 2010 in Collinsville Illinois. Over 60 students, faculty and staff from the campuses of Southern Illinois University and the University of Illinois attended the event.  A wide variety of exciting research was presented through short talks and posters.   A meeting culminated in a special lecture by Dr. Rhanor Gillette of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, who described his work using the invertebrate Pleurobranchaea california to study basic circuitry for decision-making. A program for this Retreat can be found HERE (pdf).
Pictures taken during the 2010 meeting are posted on the websites for CIR-CNS (HERE) and Sangamon Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience (HERE). In addition programs and pictures of previous Retreats can be found on the Sangamon Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience webpage Retreat area (HERE).
