- Providing needs assessment data to the course director
- Helping course directors determine course objectives
- Submitting course outline to CME Committee and others, as appropriate
- ACCME credit designation
- Serving as registrar
- Designing and summarizing conference evaluations
- Keeping course attendance records in perpetuity, and providing those
  records to physicians as requested
- Keeping course files for seven years
- Ensuring that each course meets the ACCME Essentials and Standards
  for Commercial Support

Conference Planning Services

- Overall management of the course
- Identifying date conflicts with SIU School of Medicine
- Assisting in estimating number of participants
- Developing, printing and mailing brochure*
- Purchasing and ordering mailing lists (CME does not compile mailing lists)
- Determining mailing dates for brochures
- Developing budget
- Completing AAFP credit application* (when applicable)
- Determining space availability for desired dates
- Making audiovisual equipment arrangements
- Making catering arrangements
- Taking registrations by phone, fax, email, U.S. mail, etc.
- Sending confirmation letters and maps to participants
- Depositing registration fees and other conference revenue
- Monitoring registrations and recommending strategies for
  increasing attendance
- Compiling registration list
- Printing name tags*
- Arranging for conference parking
- Assembling folders*
- Determining which commercial supporters of NFP agencies will exhibit
- Arranging for exhibit space
- Corresponding with pharmaceutical companies and exhibitors to
  obtain letters of agreement for commercial support
- Corresponding with faculty regarding faculty disclosure forms,
  audio-visual needs, handouts, and other course details
- Staffing the conference
- Providing pre-conference announcements list for course director
  (i.e., credit hours, commercial supporters, evaluation reminders,
  parking, telephones, restrooms)
- Paying all bills (processing vouchers, requisitions, honoraria, travel)
- Preparing final accounting of course expenses
- Scheduling post-conference meeting of course director,
  planning committee, and CME staff

 

*Actual cost will be added to the course budget.
  The usual registration fee is $12-$20 per credit hour.
