The SIU School of Medicine (SOM) has established an Office of Regulatory Compliance under the administrative direction of the Chief Compliance Officer within the Office of Dean and Provost as detailed in the Organization chart. The SOM Office of Regulatory Compliance shall work in close cooperation with the various academic and administrative offices throughout the SOM and the various support units of SIU HC in the development, dissemination and enforcement of policies, procedures, and guidelines related to a broad range of compliance and regulatory issues.

Chief Compliance Officer The Chief Compliance Officer has overall administrative responsibility for all compliance functions and operations of the SOM, including clinical services, externally funded research, conflict of interest and commitment, industry relations and a multitude of other regulatory compliance requirements. The position reports directly to the Dean and Provost and has an indirect reporting relationship to the SIUC Chancellor, SIU President and the Audit Committee of the SIU Board of Trustees. Peter R. Assistant Director of Regulatory Compliance The Assistant Director has the primary function of assisting the Chief Compliance Officer in the strategic management and oversight of the SIU School of Medicine's (SOM) multiple and varied compliance programs primarily related to clinical services and organized research. This position manages and directs the audit function for professional fee billing and other compliance areas. This position will administratively report to the Chief Compliance Officer.

Health Care Compliance Officer The Health Care Compliance Officer shall function as the lead administrative and technical authority for matters relating to coding, billing and documentation of clinical services of the faculty practice plan at the SOM. The position assists in the day-to-day operations and clinical compliance activities of the health care service enterprise. The Health Care Compliance Officer reports to the Assistant Director.
