John Bradley, M.D.
John Bradley, M.D.,MMM., Director
     Dr. Bradley is Professor and Associate Chair of the Department of Family and Community Medicine. He has directed the Decatur Family Medicine Residency since 1991. He is heavily involved in the development and early implementation of the SIU Physicians and Surgeons practice plan. Dr. Bradley also recently served on the schools Research Policy Committee and is formerly a member of the Admissions Committee. Dr. Bradley was named Illinois Academy of Family Physicians Teacher of the Year in 1996. Dr. Bradley also serves on the Board of Directors for the Decatur Federally Qualified Health Center. He is currently involved in a comprehensive practice redesign project at the residency. Dr. Charles Ellington and Dr. Bradley have co-authored a book, The Physician's Pocket Lawyer, a practical legal guide to topics such as malpractice and risk management, medical ethics, emergent and end of life decisions, licensure, legal aspects of practice management, and legal aspects of a variety of common medical encounters. He practiced in rural south Missouri and was previously a faculty member at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita.

Jessie Junker, M.D.
Jessie Junker, M.D.,MBA., Executive Associate Director
     Dr. Junker directed the University of North Carolina - Wilmington residency program from its inception in 1996. She has a great expertise in curriculum design.

Cesar Arguelles, M.D., Assistant Director
     Dr. Arguelles has a great expertise in health information technology and will play a large role in guiding the implementation of the General Electric Centricity electronic medical record in 2007. Dr. Arguelles is a native of the Phillipines.

Susan Klein, M.D.
Susan Klein, M.D., Assistant Director
     Dr. Klein was in private practice from 1993-1998in Clinton, IL. She is responsible for the development and maintenance of the program for resident evaluations, resident competencies, and prenatal care guidelines. She is a native of Central Illinois.

Charles Ellington, M.D.
Charles Ellington, M.D.,JD., Assistant Director
     Dr. Ellington was in private practice from 2000-2004 in Arthur, IL. He has served on the boards of multiple community organizations. He completed a health policy fellowship at Georgetown University School of Medicine and The Robert Graham Center for Policy Studies in Primary Care in 2005. He was also named Preceptor of the Year at Georgetown University Family Medicine Residency in 2005. His research interests include tort reform, medical ethics, and access to care. Dr.'s Ellington and Bradley co-authored a book entitled Physicians' Pocket Lawyer.

Mark Scott, M.D., Assistant Professor
     Dr. Scott was in private practice in Decatur prior to joining the SIU Family Medicine Residency Program. He previously was Assistant Professor at the University of Kentucky Scool of Medicine Department of Family Medicine.

Laura Law, PA-C
Laura Law, MPAS, PA-C, Physician Assistant
     Laura earned her Physician Assistant degree at the Southern Illinois University Physician Assistant Program in Carbondale and her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She began working for the SIU Family Medicine Residency Program in 2005 in Decatur.  Prior to re-joining our practice she worked as a Physician Assistant and Clinical Assistant Professor at the SIU Carbondale Family Medicine Residency Program and SIU Physician Assistant Program from 2008-2010. She also has one year experience as a Physician Assistant in the Decatur Memorial Hospital Emergency Care Center.  In addition to clinical practice, Laura is also an active member of our Patient-Centered Medical Home Committee.
Dennis Petty, Clinical Instructor in Behavioral Science
     Dennis began coordinating the behavioral science curriculum for Decatur Family Practice Residency Program in October of 2007.  After working as a medical social worker at Carle Foundation Hospital and Clinic, Dennis spent 20 years supervising and developing counseling programs throughout central Illinois. As an Approved Supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, Dennis trained master’s level interns and licensed counselors in family therapy and mental health counseling. In 2002 he was recognized as Social Worker of the Year for the Springfield area by the National Association of Social Work.

     Dr. Costerisan is in private practice in Mount Zion, IL. He is board certified in Family Medicine. Dr. Costerisan presently serves our program by providing obstetric supervision for our resident's patients.

Wayne Mathews
Wayne Mathews, P.A.-C, Assistant Professor, PA Program
     Wayne is a licensed certified physician assistant since 1981. He graduated from the University of Nebraska PA Program, and did postgraduate work at the University of Illinois, earning a Master's in Epidemiology. He has also earned AAPA Distingiushed Fellow award for 2008. Wayne is the Director of the Emergency Department at Kirby Hospital in Monticello, and serves as a part time faculty for the SIU PA Program, in addition to assisting with Family Medicine resident teaching. Wayne is married with four sons, and enjoys the outdoors.

Annette Gilson, Medical Services Administrator
Annette Gilson, Family Medicine Administrator
     Annette joined SIU School of Medicine in 1995 and has been the Family Medicine Administrator in Decatur since 1997. She oversees the administrative aspects of clinical operations, budget preparation and management, grant and contract administration, human resources, and community relations at the department's residency program and medical offices. She graduated from Millikin University, in Decatur, Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Prior to joining SIU, she worked for Decatur Memorial Hospital as a Senior Accountant. Annette is a member of the Association of Family Medicine Administration and Medical Group Managerial Association. She received the Administrative Professional Employee of the Quarter award in 2009.
Tina Hartwig
Tina Hartwig, Medical Education Program Coordinator
     Tina has been working in the medical field since 1993 and came to the residency program in July 2005. She has worked as the residency coordinator since July 2006. Her main duties include recruiting, licensing of residents, orientation scheduling and other miscellaneous projects throughout the year. Tina enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Stacey
Stacey, Medical Education Program Specialist
     Stacey joined SIU Family Physicians in December 2007. She graduated from Richland Community College in 1994. She has worked in the medical field since 1992. Stacey's primary responsibilities include establishing clinic and call schedules for 20+ physicians on a monthly basis, accounts payable, tracking staff work hours and payroll, create and maintain weekly physician noon conference presentations, assists in recruiting faculty and residents and many other miscellaneous duties. Stacey enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Donna
Donna, Medical Education Program Specialist
     Donna has over 20 years experience as an administrative assistant. She joined SIU in May 2010. Some duties at SIU include corresponding with community physicians in regards to rotation preparation, and evaluations, tracking of work hour documentation, and scheduling of medical student rotations.
