Laura earned her Physician Assistant degree at the Southern Illinois University Physician Assistant Program in Carbondale and her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She began working for the SIU Family Medicine Residency Program in 2005 in Decatur. Prior to re-joining our practice she worked as a Physician Assistant and Clinical Assistant Professor at the SIU Carbondale Family Medicine Residency Program and SIU Physician Assistant Program from 2008-2010. She also has one year experience as a Physician Assistant in the Decatur Memorial Hospital Emergency Care Center. In addition to clinical practice, Laura is also an active member of our Patient-Centered Medical Home Committee.
Wayne Mathews, PA-C
Wayne Mathews is a certified Physician Assistant who has a Certificate
Qualification in Emergency Medicine. Wayne is a graduate of the University of
Nebraska Physician Assistant Program, and also has a graduate degree in
Epidemiology from the University of Illinois. He has 31 years of
a P.A. He also holds a research position with Family Medicine in Patient
Oriented Outcome Research, and assists the department with training of both
Residents and Physician Assistants.
