Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG)

Southern Illinois University School of Medicine's Department of Family & Community Medicine directs the student Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) and coordinates activities with the student representatives for each class. Students interested in family medicine and/or primary care are welcome to join FMIG to learn more about the philosophy and experiences in family medicine.

Activities include:
  • Procedural workshops
  • Interviewing and residency match informational sessions
  • Community oriented primary care program
  • FMIG social functions
  • Student FMIG attendance at state, regional and national conferences sponsored by the Illinois Academy of Family Physicians (IAFP) and American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) to learn more about the opportunities that family medicine has to offer.
