James Kontio, BS
Embryology Lab Coordinator
James is the embryology laboratory supervisor and senior embryologist. Previously, he was IVF laboratory director for Fertility Unlimited Ohio and served as IVF manager and technical director of the in vitro fertilization service at Akron City Hospital. Kontio received graduate training in reproductive physiology at Michigan State University and earned his bachelor’s degree at Adrian College (1983). He joined the SIU staff in 2008. |

Vicky Gindlesperger, BA
Embryology Lab Specialist
Vicky is a senior embryologist. Previously, she was fertility laboratory supervisor with Reproductive Medicine Associates of Texas and laboratory supervisor/senior clinical embryologist at University-McDonald Women’s Hospital and senior embryologist with the LIFE program at Mt. Sinai Medical Center. Gindlesperger earned her bachelor’s degree at the Case Western Reserve University (1969). She joined the SIU staff in 2009. |

Registered Nurse - ADN Graduate of LLCC 2002. Also a Certified Bone Technologist since 12/2007. Employed with SIU Obstetrics and Gynecology since 8/2004. Previous employment at the Neurology and Orthopedic Departments at Memorial Medical Center. Member of ASRM since 2009 and ISCD since 12/2007. |

I graduated nursing training from Graham Hospital School of Nursing in 1981.I have worked as nurse in several area such as the hospital for over 10 years, home health for 3 years,office nurse for over 15 years. The last position is for SIU School of Medicine. I have worked here for 10 years. I started as a float working in multiple areas like colorectal, pedi ortho, ent,cardiothoracic and some urology. when I became a full time employee I started working on and off in urology along with biofeedback back. Something kept pulling me back now I am working with Dr Kohler in urology and infertility.
I am married for over 20 years and have teenage daughter named Nicole
I have one pet a dog named viper who gives me alot of trouble and pleasure. |

Dietitian
Becky has been involved in nutrition education and women’s health for over 12 years. She worked as the Maternal Child Dietitian at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL for 5 years before joining Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. In this position, she has been providing nutrition and diabetes education to the women of central Illinois for over 7 years. She is a registered, licensed dietitian who is certified in diabetes and lactation education. Areas of expertise include: Pregnancy, Diabetes, Lactation, and Reproductive Endocrinology. |

Erin Paris, Dietitian
Erin is a Registered, Licensed Dietitian with experience in multiple large
tertiary care medical centers. She has worked on specialized medical teams
preforming nutrition assessment and critical care nutrition support while in
Chicago,IL, then moving to Springfield to join the Southern Illinois University
School of Medicine in 2003. Credentials include: Masters in Counseling, Board
Certified Advanced Diabetes Management, Certified Diabetes Educator, Certified
Lactation Counselor, and Certificate in Adult Weight Loss. Areas of specialty
interest: maternal nutrition, diabetes, reproductive endocrinology, disorderd
eating, weight loss and lactation. |

Jim holds a master's degree in acupuncture and oriental medicine from the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NIAOM). He has been an adjunct faculty member at SIU School of Medicine in Springfield. |

Ellen Thomas
Genetic Counselor
Ellen is a genetic counselor who joined the faculty of SIU School of Medicine in February 2007. Ellen received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She obtained her Master of Science degree in Genetic Counseling from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. She has a broad range of experience in genetics. Ellen had worked as a cytogenetic technologist for several years prior to becoming a genetic counselor. She also has experience in public health genetics, having served as a program consultant to the Indiana State Department of Health’s Genomics Program. She has experience providing pediatric, prenatal, and cancer genetic counseling. |

Heather Glessner
Genetic Counselor
Heather is a genetic counselor on staff with SIU School of Medicine, having joined their faculty in October of 2008. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics with a minor in Psychology from Iowa State University and earned her Master of Science degree in Genetic Counseling from the University of Minnesota. Heather has well-rounded experience in genetic counseling and currently provides prenatal, pediatric, and cancer genetic counseling services. She is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors and is board eligible for certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. |

Sonographer
Krissey graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelors degree in Radiological Sciences with a specialization in Ultrasound. She currently is ARDMS certified in Abdomen, OB/GYN, and Vascular Technology. She has also been credentialed by NTQR in Nuchal Translucency Screening. Krissey is the Ultrasound and Maternal Fetal Medicine Coordinator for SIU School of Medicine Department of OB/GYN. She has been with SIU since 2004. |

Sonographer
In 1996, Becky, graduated from Blessing Hospital School of Radiologic Technology. She then attended The Institute of Ultrasound Diagnostics in Mobile, AL in 1998. Becky is currently a registered sonographer with the ARDMS. She is also credentialed with the NTQR for nuchal translucency. Becky is a medical sonographer III and has been with SIU since 2003. |
