McAfee Security for Mac v 1.0 (OS X- 10.4.6 and later)
Note: The newest/latest version is officially called McAfee VirusScan for Mac v 9.0.0, however the User Interface and documentation for this product use the name McAfee Security 1.0.

Installing McAfee Security for Mac v 1.0

• Uninstall earlier versions of VirusScan prior to upgrading to McAfee Security for Mac v 1.0.
  • Download the VirusScan_Uninstall.command file to your Mac
  • Double-click the "VirusScan_Uninstall.command" file and follow instructions, you will have to enter your password.
• Download the McAfeeSecurity1.0_Mac.dmg file to your computer desktop.
• Double-click the McAfeeSecurity1.0_Mac.dmg file to expand and open it.
• Double-click the McAfee Security for Mac-Anti-malware-1.0-RTW-676.mpkg file to start the installer.
• Follow the instructions to install.

Updating VirusScan Virus Definition Files

McAfee Security v 1.0 by default is set to Automatically check for updates. If you are using a laptop and don't always have an internet connection it is a good idea to manually run the eUpdate at least once a week.

• Launch VirusScan from your Applications folder
• Click the Update Now link in the left control panel area.
• Click the Start Update button.
