What is loanable technology?
Loanable Technology consists of a pool of technology items that any staff, student or faculty member may borrow. These items include digital cameras and related items, computers and related items, digital projectors, audio/video equipment, and other accessories. These are available in Springfield and Carbondale. See: http://www.siumed.edu/lib/loanlist.html for additional items.
How long can I borrow the equipment?
Each piece of equipment is assigned a loan period at checkout time.
What if I need extra time past the due date?
If there is no current demand for that same piece of equipment, we will renew the loan for another borrowing period.Since we do have a reservation listing, we must refer to that listing before we allow you to check it out for another borrowing period.
What is included in the package of equipment?
Each piece of equipment should have all the parts you need to use the equipment. This may include batteries, power cords, adapters, cables, software on CDs or diskettes and any manuals or user guides.
What are those white tags for?
The white tags are placed on each piece of equipment in the package to identify they belong together. If any are torn or lost, they will be replaced. There is an LT number with a copy number on the tag.For many of the loanable items, there is more than 1 copy of the same equipment available. These tags are helpful when checking the equipment in and out, making sure all the parts are included.
How do I check out a piece of Loanable Technology?
In Springfield, you will need to go to the Library or the Computer room (room 1071C). In Carbondale, you need to go to Information Resources, Lindegren 103. Not all items are available all the time, so please reserve it as soon as you know you will need the equipment.
What if I lose part of the equipment?
Borrowers are responsible for the cost of replacing any lost or damaged items.
