Dental Insurance Benefit Plan

For detailed information on all insurance benefits, please visit the State Benefit Choice website.

All employees and their dependents covered for health benefits also receive dental coverage. (Part-time employees pay a prorated portion of the premium.)  Quality Care Dental Plan, under which employees are free to select the dentist of their choice, includes preventive care, some restorative services, and partial coverage for dentures, periodontia, and childhood orthodontia. Under this plan the employee has an annual maximum benefit, a non-preventive care deductible, and monthly premiums.  The dental plan is administered for the state by CompBenefits.

Eligible employees may elect to opt in or out of dental coverage upon hire or during Benefit Choice Period, which is typically held each May for July 1st effective date.  (Some services may not be covered for pre-existing conditions.) Employees may make changes in plans during the year if there is a qualifying change in status.

Dental Insurance Premiums

Definition for eligible employee:  The state health, dental, and life insurance benefits are available to employees hired into permanent positions at 50% time or more for a period of at least eight months.  If, however, an employee is hired at 50% time or more and the contract is for less than eight months, due to fiscal constraints or grant restrictions, health, dental, and life benefits may be provided if it is the intention of the hiring department to continue the employment.
