Tuition Assistance Programs


Tuition Reimbursement

Tuition reimbursement is available to Civil Service, Principal Administrative and Research employees who are enrolled at any other degree granting institution not covered by the tuition waiver program.  The institution must be accredited and the coursework must be for credit; tuition for non-credit coursework will not be reimbursed.

This benefit is not available for Faculty employees.

Tuition Waiver

Tuition waiver (graduate and undergraduate) is available to Civil Service employees at all state supported universities.

Tuition waivers are available to Faculty, Principal Administrative, and Research employees at SIU-Carbondale and SIU-Edwardsville only.

Tuition Waivers-Children

Effective January 1, 1992 Public Act 87-793 directed the Southern Illinois University Board of  Trustees to offer a 50% tuition waiver for undergraduate education at either Southern Illinois University at Carbondale or Edwardsville to children, under 25 years of age, of employees who have been employed at the University for at least seven (7) years, at 50% time or greater. 

Effective January 1, 1998 Public Act 90-0282 directed Illinois public universities to make available a 50% tuition waiver for undergraduate education at Illinois public universities for eligible children, under age 25, of employees of public universities who have seven (7) or more years of total employment, at 50% time or greater.
