Employee Recognition Programs at SIU School of Medicine
Employee recognition is an important aspect of our work at SIU School of Medicine. There are several ways that we honor employees for their outstanding contributions.
Caught in the Act of Excellence
The Caught in the Act of Excellence recognition program provides a way to recognize the efforts of the School of Medicine’s high performing staff. The program is designed to acknowledge an exemplary act performed by an SIU employee that is believed to be above and beyond the normal call of duty. Any employee is eligible for this form of recognition. A particular focus has been on examples of caring and service to patients and employees. Employees are recognized with a button and are publicly recognized through the website and School newsletter.
Civil Service Employee of the Month and Principal Administrative Employee of the Quarter
Civil Service Employee of the Month and Principal Administrative Employee of the Quarter are more formal recognition programs. Employees receiving this honor are treated to lunch with the Dean, receive a certificate recognizing this achievement, are invited to the annual employee recognition luncheon, and have their photograph taken to hang in the Dean’s Lobby. Civil Service employees are also eligible to be named Civil Service Employee of the Year!
Other Annual Awards
There are several awards that are presented on an annual basis. Those include the Civil Service Supervisor of the Year and the annual Group Quality Award that is presented to a team or group that has worked together in an exemplary manner.
Service Awards
The School of Medicine is proud to recognize the long standing service of our many dedicated employees. Employees that have served the School for five years receive special recognition at an annual luncheon during Staff Appreciation Week each spring. At five year increments thereafter, they receive additional recognition and an invitation to the Annual Service Awards Dinner, commemorating the special event.
