Change in HoursMemorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2008 - LIBRARY CLOSED Summer Hours for June, July, August begin May 25, 2008 MedlinePlus adds more languages to resources(May 7, 2008) MedlinePlus® now has a multilingual feature, providing access to high quality health information in languages other than English and Spanish. This new service benefits people who prefer to read consumer health information in their native language. It also helps the information professionals and health care providers who serve them.
Users can navigate the new collection of health information in multiple languages either by language or by topic. A page listing all of the languages covered will be linked from the MedlinePlus homepage.
A new collection called Multiple Languages appears on the MedlinePlus search results pages. The languages - Arabic, Chinese, French, Korean, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tagalog and Vietnamese - are among those most frequently spoken at home in the United States other than English, according to the U.S. census.
New PubMed@SIUMED(April 11, 2008) The link to PubMed@SIUMED has been changed to incorporate the Medical Library's new e-resource link resolver product, SFX. Searches of PubMed using this link will result in the Medical Library's Find-It icon appearing at the end of the abstracts on all retrieved citations.
If full-text is not available, options are given to search for a print copy in the Medical Library's catalog or to request a copy of the article via Interlibrary Loan (ILL). In both cases, the catalog search box or the ILL request form, respectively, will be prepopulated with the citation information.
