Acquisitions
The Medical Library features a multifaceted collection that supports the educational, patient care, research, and administrative information needs of SIU faculty, staff, students, and residents. Building of the collection is governed by a written Collection Development and Management Policy. Library users are encouraged to recommend titles for potential inclusion in the collection.

GIFT POLICY
The Medical Library welcomes gifts of books, journals, and other materials that augment the collection or that can be exchanged for needed items. Due to space and staffing limitations, acceptance of gifts may be limited to items needed for the Library's collection, and a list of potential gift materials may be required from the donor prior to acceptance of the gift. Appraisals of gifts are the responsibility of the donor.
