Computer Resources
The library computers are available during library hours for use by SIU School of Medicine faculty, staff, students, and residents. Non-SIU users may use the library computers to access electronic resources provided by the Medical Library, when the computers are not needed by SIU users. The wireless network is available to registered SIU users. Computer users must abide by the usage policies of Southern Illinois University and the Medical Library. Written usage policies are posted and available upon request.
Computers and Peripherals
All public desk top computers use the Windows operating system, are connected to the Internet, and have zip drives. Two are also connected to scanners and have CD-RW/DVD drives. Windows-based laptops are available for overnight and week-end circulation, as well as in-library use. Multimedia LCD projectors are also available for loan. Software
The public computers feature popular software packages for word processing, database creation, spreadsheet manipulation, desktop publishing, graphics, and file translation, as well as educational programs.
Printers
The computers are connected to networked digital printers and there is a charge for printing. Copy cards may be purchased for use with the printers.
