If you have recently searched for library materials at libraries other than the School of Medicine Library, you have noticed that as of June 1st the I-Share statewide catalog has a new look. The new catalog interface is called Vu-Find. VuFind has been available for a while, and still is available, as an alternative way to search our local catalog. In recent months, the I-Share catalog has seen slow performance and confusion in the way some records are displayed. The implementation of the VuFind interface will improve these issues.
Vu-Find allows searches from one simple search box. Searches can be narrowed by author, topic, language, and more. There are new options such as to cite records in either the APA or MLA formats, or import records into EndNote or RefWorks, or save records as Favorites.
To request or renew materials from other libraries in VuFind a user must create an account and set up a profile. Any materials that can be requested through VuFind should be done by the requester. Once you find the material you would like to borrow, click on Request this Item. It will take you to a Login screen. At the bottom is the option to Create an Account.

Fill in the Basic Information, create a user name and password and complete the Library Catalog Profile information which includes your barcode number from the back of your SIUSM ID card, your last name and select SIU School of Medicine Library as your affiliation.
