Dr. Aguirre has a special interest in research. He has participated in over 40 clinical trials of devices, and drugs and published more than 150 abstracts, articles, and book chapters.

Dr. Aguirre has been instrumental in establishing the Prairie Stat Heart program for heart attack treatment, for which he is currently medical director. The goal of the Prairie Stat Heart program is for patients who present to area emergency rooms with symptoms of a heart attack be diagnosed, transported, and on the operating table within 90 minutes.

Diagnostic studies, exercise studies, echocardiography, cardiac pacing, the diagnosis and management of lipid disorders and preventive cardiology.
