Carmel Fratianni, M.D. is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and SIU Physicians & Surgeons. She is a specialist in endocrinology and diabetes in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Molecular Medicine.

Dr. Fratianni received her medical degree in 1988 from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed a residency in internal medicine at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New York and a fellowship in endocrinology and diabetes at Cornell University Medical College. Most recently, Dr. Fratianni served as an instructor at Harvard Medical School and was an assistant in medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.

Dr. Fratianni is a board-certified physician in internal medicine, endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. She is a member of the American Thyroid Association, the Endocrine Society, and American Diabetes Association. She offers evaluation and treatment services in the areas of diabetes, osteoporosis, thyroid, calcium, adrenal and pituitary disorders as well as general endocrinology. She has a particular interest in thyroid cancer and thyroid disorders. She sees patients in the SIU Clinics Building located at 751 North Rutledge in Springfield.
