
Joseph Q. Henkle, M.D. is an Associate Professor with the Department of Internal Medicine and Chief of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and SIU Physicians & Surgeons. He is Program Director of the Pulmonary Medicine Fellowship, Director of the SIU/Memorial Medical Center Sleep Disorders Center and Medical Director of ICU education at St. John’s Hospital. Dr. Henkle earned both his bachelor of science degree and his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He completed his residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City and his fellowship in pulmonary medicine at Good Samaritan and the Veterans Administration Medical Centers in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Henkle is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, critical care medicine and sleep medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the American Thoracic Society, the American College of Chest Physicians and the American Medical Association. Dr. Henkle sees patients in the SIU Clinics Building located at 751 North Rutledge Street in Springfield. He specializes in pulmonary and critical care medicine and sleep disorders medicine.
