Exam (Station Exam) will be Wednesday, July 2, 2008 The NBME Final
Exam will be Thursday, July 3, 2008 Absences / Questions The clerkship office must be notified of all absences. If you know in advance that you have an appointment or school meeting, let the clerkship office know as soon as possible. If you wake up sick, call 545-3900 or 545-8933 by 8:30 a.m., so assigned residents and/or faculty can be notified. In accordance with School policy, all absences will be reported to the Office of Student Affairs. Weather Emergency Policy The following steps will be taken in a weather related emergency. 1) Dean Dorsey has the option of closing the entire school. If that occurs, email and radio announcements will be broadcast. No classes or clerkships will run for any student in Springfield. 2) If Dean Dorsey does not close the entire school, Drs. Constance and Klamen have the option of closing the curriculum for the Year 2, 3, and/or 4 classes. Note that on occasion one class may be cancelled (Y2) while other classes (Y3 and 4) will not be. In the case of a cancellation, the years affected will be sent an email notifying them that classes are cancelled. For example, if the Y2 classes are cancelled, the Y2's will receive an email to that effect. Therefore, if a student does NOT receive an email from Drs. Constance and Klamen, the student should assume that the curriculum has NOT been cancelled. 3) If the school and the
curriculum have not been cancelled, the Internal Medicine clerkship
director, Dr. Hingle, has the option of closing clerkship activities.
Dr. Hingle will send out an e-mail if Internal Medicine clerkship
activities have been cancelled. Therefore, if a student does NOT receive
an e-mail from the clerkship director, the student should assume that
the clerkship has NOT been cancelled. If an individual student is
having travel difficulties, they are expected to contact Dr. Hingle
via e-mail, pager or phone. What to do for an exposure to blood/body fluids . . . An exposure is a needlestick, cut, puncture wound, mucous membrane splash or a cutaneous exposure (especially if the skin is broken).
