DEPRESSION

  • Depression is an illness that causes you to feel desperately unhappy or helpless.
  • It is far more serious than just feeling "blue" or "down in the dumps".
  • People suffering from depression take no pleasure in life, are preoccupied with thoughts of death, and often consider or attempt suicide.
  • Feelings of sadness, irritability, trouble sleeping, early morning awakening, no interest in activities, sex, poor appetite, weight loss, overeating, feeling of guilt, worthlessness, fatigue and thoughts of suicide.
  • Depression is a treatable disease. It is not caused by laziness or weakness.
  • If you have signs or symptoms especially suicidal thoughts, call your doctor.
