EXERCISE

  • Regular physical exercise has been shown to be beneficial for health promotion and risk reduction.
  • Regular exercise done 20-30 minutes daily at a moderate pace is recommended.
  • An individual does not have to do all 30 minutes of exercise in one bout. Health benefits of exercise can be acheived by walking 10 minutes, three times a day. For some people with limited time, this can be integrated into their daily schedule more easily.
  • Walking is recommended as a safe and easily tolerated form of exercise.
  • Walk at a brisk pace of 3-4 miles/hour at least 5 days/week.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes. Avoid uneven surfaces.
