VISION SCREENING

  • White patients over 65 years of age and African Americans over 40 years of age have a higher incidence of glaucoma.
  • Patients with a family history of glaucoma and patients with diabetes are also at increased risk of developing glaucoma.
  • It is recommended that if you fall into any of these high risk categories, you will require routine vision screening.
  • The optimal frequency of this screening should be determined by your Primary Care Physician.
  • Diabetics will also need an annual eye exam in the eye clinic to look for changes in the blood vessels caused by diabetes. If found and treated early it can prevent loss of vision.
