Message from Dr. Andrew J. Varney, Residency Program Director

Welcome to the Internal Medicine Residency web site. Throughout these pages, you will find information regarding every aspect of our educational program. Please browse through and find out why we feel that our dedicated faculty and staff, our small size, and unique approach to teaching allow us to be innovators in resident education. As testament to this, we are proud of our 925% three-year rolling pass rate on the ABIM board exams. In addition, our program has been chosen by the Residency Review Committee for Internal Medicine as one of only 21 residency programs in the country to develop an Educational Innovation Project (EIP). We are very excited to be a part of this ambitious project, knowing that the changes that SIU will be making will help shape the future teaching structure of all residency programs across the nation.
