Directions for Reaching the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel, 701 East Adams Street, 217/544-8800

If you are traveling south on I-55 from Chicago: Take exit 98B which is Clear Lake Avenue. Proceed west for approximately 3 miles. Turn left on 7th Street. Proceed south for approximately 0.1 miles. The hotel is on your left on the corner of 7th and Adams.

If you are traveling north on I-55 from St. Louis: Take the 6th Street Exit. Proceed north for approximately 4 miles. Turn right on Washington Street (you are getting close once you enter downtown; Washington follows Monroe and Adams Streets). Turn right on 7th Street. The hotel is on your left on the corner of 7th and Adams.

If you are taking the bus: please call a taxi (Lincoln/Checker Cab: 523-4545, 525-1630 or A Diamond Transportation Sedan Service, 522-9039). It is approximately a 4 mile drive to the hotel.

If you are taking the AmTrak: the hotel is just three blocks away (exit the parking lot at Washington street and turn left. You will be headed east. Walk three blocks to 7th Street, turn right on 7th. The hotel is on the left at the corner of Adams). While it is possible to walk, please exercise caution if it is late at night.

If you are flying into Abraham Lincoln Capitol Airport: please call a taxi (see taxi numbers listed above in the “bus” directions, or the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel Shuttle (if you are staying at the hotel; there is a phone with a direct dial to the hotel – it is located in the baggage claim area).

NOTE: If you are staying at the hotel, the hotel shuttle will take you to the hospital for your interviews.

If you are NOT staying at the hotel and plan to drive straight to the first item on your itinerary follow the appropriate directions:

…Directions for Reaching the Department of Internal Medicine Offices (Room D442 Memorial Medical Center)

1. From Interstate 55, take the Clear Lake Avenue Exit (exit 98B). Travel west approximately 3 miles.
2. Turn right on 1st Street. You will stay on 1st Street for only a few blocks.
3. Turn left on Carpenter Street. Travel just a few blocks.
4. Turn right on Rutledge Street (there is a stop sign).
5. Turn left at the first stop sign (Miller Street).
6. Park in the patient parking garage (connected to the Bayliss Building).
7. Enter the Bayliss Building and take the elevator or stairs to the 2nd Floor.
8. Follow the signs to the SIU Clinic Building/Moy Building (you will hardly notice that you are leaving the Bayliss Building and entering the Moy building).
9. Follow the signs to Memorial Medical Center (you will take a skywalk across Rutledge Street).
10. Once you are in Memorial Medical Center, turn right at the first opportunity and take the first elevators (garden elevators or “C” elevators) to the 4th Floor.
11. Turn right and you will enter the D-wing of Memorial. Enter room D442 which the SIU Department of Internal Medicine.

…Directions for Reaching the Wedeberg Conference Center at Memorial Medical Center

1. From Interstate 55, take the Clear Lake Avenue Exit (exit 98B). Travel west approximately 3 miles.
2. Turn right on 1st Street. You will stay on 1st Street for only a few blocks. You will see Memorial Medical Center on your left.
3. Park in the visitor’s surface parking lot
4. Enter the hospital’s main entrance and take the staircase down one level (stairs are near the main elevators). The Wedeberg Conference Center is straight ahead.

Directions from the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel

… to Southern Illinois University School of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine Offices (Room D442 of Memorial Medical Center)

1. From the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel parking garage, turn left onto 7th (one-way, southbound).
2. Get in right line immediately and turn right on Adams (this is the first intersection).
3. Turn right on 6th Street.
4. Stay on 6th for five or six blocks. Turn left on Carpenter Street.
5. After five or six blocks, turn right on Rutledge Street (there is a stop sign).
6. Turn left at the first stop sign (Miller Street).
7. Park in the patient parking garage (connected to the Bayliss Building).
8. Enter the Bayliss Building and take the elevator or stairs to the 2nd Floor.
