EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMSA general overview of the formal educational programs is included in the general information section. The didactic portion of the SIU internal medicine residency reflects a continuous assessment of the needs of our house staff and the development of formal educational programs to meet those needs. Summaries of the routine offerings can be found in the following schedules: Ambulatory conference, Grand Rounds, Board review, subspecialty and related conferences, evidence-based journal club, and “introduction to inpatient medicine” series. In addition, an entire week is set aside for a formal Board review program for graduating residents, in late May of their last program year. All residents attend the annual downstate ACP Associate’s Meeting. All graduating residents receive tuition, travel, and room and board expense coverage for the National ACP Annual Session. Each subspecialty
rotation sponsors journal clubs, case conferences, and didactic sessions
for residents and students.
