Admissions Cycle Schedule - Year 2009 Entrants

Program Begins June 26, 2009

Applicants for year 2009 entry to MEDPREP should apply in one of three admissions cycles. Applicants who apply in the first admissions cycle, when fewer applicants are anticipated, will receive consideration earlier, will be invited to an earlier Admissions Day, will be notified of their admission status at an earlier date, and will have better SIUC course selection. As with applications to health professional school, it is almost always advantageous to the applicant to be considered in the first admissions cycle. However, if an applicant wishes to have fall semester grades considered in the selection process, s/he should choose the second or third admissions cycle.

(1) MEDPREP admissions deadlines are strictly adhered to. It is the applicant's responsibility to determine that the application, separate copies of all transcripts, and a minimum of two letters of recommendation or a committee letter are received at MEDPREP by the deadline. If not, the application will be moved to the next admissions cycle. Applicants will be notified when their application file is complete, but e-mail inquiries concerning receipt of materials are always welcome.

(2) Admissions Day Notification is the date by which applicants can expect to learn whether they are invited to MEDPREP's Admissions Day. Reservations for specific Admissions Day dates are on a first-request basis.

(3)  Admissions Day is the day of interviewing and testing for MEDPREP program entry. Attendance at the Admissions Day for the cycle in which the applicant is applying is required for further consideration for program entry. One additional Admissions Day may be scheduled if warranted. MEDPREP does not have funds to assist with travel or housing related to Admissions Day.

(4) By this date, applicants in each cycle will be notified as to whether they are accepted into MEDPREP, placed on an alternate list, or denied admission to the program.
