The Medicine Psychiatry Unit is located at Memorial Medical Center, one of SIU School of Medicine's affiliated hospitals. It is located within a secure, acute psychiatric unit. It is the only unit of its type between Chicago, Illinois; Iowa City, Iowa; Indianapolis, Indiana and St. Louis, Missouri.

The ten private beds on the unit are identified in yellow. All the rooms have off site telemetry capabilities, oxygen, suction and IV administration abilities. The nurses are specifically trained to handle acute psychiatric and acute medical problems.
