During this intense clinical elective, the student will act as a subintern on the Medicine-Psychiatry Service. Activities will include inpatient medicine, inpatient psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, and/or outpatient combined medicine-psychiatry clinic. The student will choose from the above experiences, based on his/her individual interests and faculty schedules. The student will also participate in Medicine-Psychiatry weekly conference and monthly Journal Club. Responsibilities will be that of a first-year resident, with orders co-signed by the senior resident or attending. The student will take an active role in the diagnosis and management of his/her patients, with daily rounds with the attending physician. Call will be negotiated based on clinical service with a maximum of every 5th night.
