Intensive Clinical Experience in Medicine - Psychiatry Description During this intense clinical elective, the student will act as a subintern on the Medicine-Psychiatry Service. Activities will include inpatient medicine, inpatient psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, and/or outpatient combined medicine-psychiatry clinic. The student will choose from the above experiences, based on his/her individual interests and faculty schedules. The student will also participate in Medicine-Psychiatry weekly conference and monthly Journal Club. Responsibilities will be that of a first-year resident, with orders co-signed by the senior resident or attending. The student will take an active role in the diagnosis and management of his/her patients, with daily rounds with the attending physician. Call will be negotiated based on clinical service with a maximum of every 5th night. Objectives
Evaluation Evaluation will be based on direct observation of clinical examination and presentation of patients, and formulation of treatment plans. Direct feedback will come from the attending physician, and (if present) senior resident. Student will be evaluated in the area of patient care, medical knowledge, communication/interpersonal skills, professionalism, and practice-based learning. Prerequisites
