Library Facilities
SIU School of Medicine Library; open 90 hours/week. Affiliated hospital libraries are available 24-hours-per-day. Photocopying; Medline searches, book, videotape and audiotape loans are available.

Benefits
Health insurance is available at a minimal charge; optional family plan can be purchased. Dental coverage is provided with minimal charge. Basic life insurance is provided at no cost; additional amounts may be purchased for resident or family. Professional liability insurance is provided at no cost. Special portable, anticipated income disability insurance available at nominal cost.
Vacation and educational leave
All residents receive 21 calendar days of vacation, up to 7 calendar days of educational leave, up to 12 weeks family/medical leave, 14 calendars days of sick leave and 3 calendar days of bereavement leve. Funds granted for eductaional leave are at the discretion of the department.
Housing
There is a wide variety of housing in all areas of Springfield. Past arrangements made by SIU residents include apartment or house rental, and condominium or house purchase.
