SIU School of Medicine is a state-assisted school established in 1970 to help the people of central and southern Illinois in meeting their health care needs through education, research and service. Illinois benefits greatly from the commitment of SIU's faculty and staff. The School of Medicine is working to train caring and competent physicians and develop new models for providing health care in rural areas. Our medical research provides the engine for continued growth in biomedical related economic development and clinical care. Our 200-plus full-time faculty physicians, who practice as SIU Physicians & Surgeons, offer primary care and a variety of specialized services, many not available elsewhere in downstate Illinois. The School and its teaching hospitals make Springfield an expanding academic medical center. Southern Illinois University is an equal opportunity employer and will not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, religion, national origin or sex in violation of Title VII. |
