April 16, 2007 SIU Call Center (217-545-8000) AbdelSalam recently completed a three-year fellowship in child neurology at Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio, (2006) and a pediatric residency at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. (2003). He was a faculty member following completion of a pediatric residency and earning his medical degree at Cairo University Pediatric Hospital in Cairo, Egypt (1998-2001, 1998, 1995). AbdelSalam is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Neurology. He is interested in treating children with headaches, epilepsy and neuron-metabolic disorders including mitochondrial disorders. He received the lectureship award from the National Headache Foundation in 2005 for the best paper in the field of persistent headaches. A native of Egypt, AbdelSalam is married to Ghada AbdelHamid and has three children. -30- |
