Dr. Robert M. Abrams Dr. Robert Abrams portrait has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology, specializing in maternal and fetal medicine.

Most recently, Abrams completed a three-year fellowship in maternal/fetal medicine at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood (2007).  Previously, he was in private practice in Chicago for two years.

He completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at the University of Illinois Chicago Medical Center (2002).   He completed an internal medicine internship at North Shore University Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (1998).  He earned his medical degree at Rush Medical College in Chicago (1997) and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1993).

Abrams is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  He is eligible for board certification in maternal-fetal medicine.  He is a member of the American Institute for Ultrasound in Medicine and the Society of Maternal Fetal Medicine.  His research interest is preeclampsia.

A native of Deerfield, he is married to Dr. Julie Nathanson-Abrams.  They have two children.
