Dhrubajyoti (Dru) Bhattacharya, J.D., Dhrubayhoti Bhattacharya portrait has joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine as an assistant professor of medical humanities.

He recently completed an appointment as a global health fellow at Georgetown University Law Center (GU) in Washington, D.C., and served under the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform in the U. S. House of Representatives.

Bhattacharya completed a master of laws degree at GU (2008) and earned a master’s degree in public health at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore (2006).  He completed his law degree at Michigan State University School of Law in East Lansing (2005) and his bachelor's degree in biological sciences at the University of Chicago (2001).
He is a member of the American Bar Association and the American Society of International Law.  He has had several articles published in professional journals on his research interests that include social determinants of health, maternal and child health, global health, and population health law and policy.

A native of Chicago, Bhattacharya is the son of Pranab and Indira Bhattacharya.
