Peter T. Borgia, Ph.D., joined the faculty at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in 1976. He is a professor of medical microbiology, immunology and cell biology. He came to SIU from the University of California Irvine where he completed a fellowship in medical microbiology (1976). Borgia earned his doctorate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1973). He received his master’s from St. John’s University in New York (1968) and his bachelor’s from Adelphi University in Garden City, N.Y. (1966). Borgia is a member of the American Society for Microbiology, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the scientific research society Sigma Xi. He serves as a reviewer for Molecular and Cellular Biology, Journal of Bacteriology and the National Science Foundation. His research interests include microbial physiology, fungal development, enzymology and mechanisms of thermophily in microorganisms. |
